Beyond These Stars Repairs: Recovering from an Iron or Tool Shortage
The quick answer
Protect the remaining supply chain first. Check local repair inputs and any usable Home Spaceship tasks, then consider reclaiming materials from a nonessential building after reading its demolition refund.
Find a source before spending the last materials
If your only iron producer breaks while repairs need Iron, pause nonessential consumption and check what can still supply the repair.
| Possible supply | Condition |
|---|---|
| Stored materials | Resources can reach the repair site |
| Home Spaceship | Its task, workers and necessary raw materials are available |
| Demolition refund | A nonessential building returns the material you need on your difficulty |
| Existing trade | You already have the trade facilities and an available deal |
The Home Spaceship’s iron task depends on nearby raw iron deposits. Its Tools need Wood and Iron; it cannot provide those goods unconditionally.
Reclaim materials carefully
- Inspect a nonessential building’s demolition refund.
- Check how much your difficulty returns. Refunds can be partial or full.
- Keep the last usable producer intact if it is needed to restart the chain.
- After demolition, collect the resource cache from the nearby road or ground. Configure a reachable Storage Shed for the materials if needed.
- Let the recovered inputs reach the repair, then check whether production resumes.
Do not assume demolition returns every material at 100 percent. A refund on the ground also needs transport before it becomes a useful repair input.
Prevent another shortage
Keep a reserve of critical materials and Tools instead of using the last units on expansion. Pause optional consumers while the damaged chain recovers.
If buildings keep being damaged, distinguish a normal repair problem from damage following travel through Debris Fields. Repeated damage and a lack of repair inputs are separate issues; increasing Peep happiness is not a guaranteed repair fix.
