Troubleshooting
Beyond These Stars Home Spaceship Not Producing Tools and Factory Breakdowns
The quick answer
Global Wood and Iron totals do not prove the Home Spaceship can make Tools. Check its active task, reachable inputs, workers and output space; inspect factory power and damage separately.
Check the Home Spaceship itself
Open the Home Spaceship and inspect the task that makes Tools. Check:
- The task is enabled.
- The required Peeps are working.
- Wood and Iron can reach the task.
- There is space to output Tools.
The ship’s iron production also depends on nearby raw iron deposits. A large city-wide stockpile does not show whether the ship is receiving the materials it needs.
If your Toolsmith is idle
A Toolsmith and the Home Spaceship are different producers. Check the Toolsmith’s own recipe and local input buffers, including enough power for a complete cycle.
A little power in the input buffer can still be too little for the task. Wood and Iron alone do not rule out a Toolsmith power shortage. Do not apply the Toolsmith’s power requirement to the Home Spaceship without checking the ship’s task.
If factories keep breaking
Read the damaged building’s status and repair requirements. Then check whether damage follows travel through a Debris Field or another visible event.
Pause optional material consumption while you restore the essential chain. Keep a reserve for repairs and use the refund preview before reclaiming materials from a nonessential building.
Tool shortages and repeated factory damage can happen together without sharing one cause. There is no single setting here that guarantees an end to every recurring breakdown.
Keep the by-product chains in mind
The Home Spaceship does not produce Wood Waste, Soot or Slag as substitutes for the normal industrial chains. If another building needs those by-products, inspect the relevant Woodcutter, smelting or tool-production task as well.
