Beyond These Stars: Not Enough Soot? Check Continuous Power

The quick answer

Enable continuous power in the generator’s Power Settings so it keeps running when electricity demand is low. Then check fuel and output space; a full output buffer can still stop production.

Keep the burner running

A generator that runs only to meet current electricity demand may produce too little Soot for your Cleaners. Open its Power Settings and enable continuous power.

Make sure the generator can obtain the fuel selected for its task. Wood and Wood Waste are useful options where available in the current recipe settings.

Check the entire output chain

Continuous power does not override missing inputs or full storage. Inspect the generator’s fuel and Soot output, then the Cleaners or other buildings consuming Soot.

Use Resource Flow to follow the resource between producers and consumers. An empty interface is a separate issue from a working diagram that shows too little supply.

Avoid creating another surplus

Do not keep smelting unnecessary Iron or Copper solely to obtain Soot without planning for the other outputs. Main products and by-products both need storage space.

Add production only after checking transport and demand. Pause nonessential consumers, prioritise your key cleaning tasks, and use forests to absorb some pollution alongside Cleaners.

Your goal is a continuing supply to the important consumers without filling another output buffer and stopping the producer.
