Beyond These Stars Sand Mine: Placement and Missing Sand Deposits
The quick answer
A Sand Mine is a Mine placed beside a Sand Resource Deposit, not a separate building in the menu. The deposit must be reachable for the mine to be useful.
Build beside the right resource
- Find a Sand Resource Deposit within the area you can use.
- Select Mine in the construction menu.
- Place it adjacent to that Sand Deposit, checking the resource and placement preview.
- Provide roads, building materials and workers.
- Check that the mine is working with Sand rather than a different deposit.
A Mine built beside Stone does not satisfy a Sand mining goal simply because the building type is correct.
If you cannot find reachable Sand
Inspect the resource deposits around your current atmosphere boundary before demolishing part of your town. A visible Sand Deposit outside the usable area is a different problem from not selecting the Mine building correctly.
Water, compost and forests can help extend your habitable area, but do not assume expansion will always reach a usable deposit on every starting map.
Keep the seed and save
For a map with no reachable Sand, use the in-game F11 feedback route and include the seed, current build and a clear view of deposits and the atmosphere boundary.
There is no guaranteed seed or save-preserving recovery method listed here. Keep the existing save before experimenting with a fresh start; an old reported bad seed is not a recommended replacement.
