Beyond These Stars Power Lines: Routing, Height and River Crossings
The quick answer
Power Lines connect generators, consumers and other poles. Keep the route clear of forests and buildings, and check each segment’s connection preview when working across uneven ground or a river.
Start with a clear route
Power Lines become available after early copper production. They can connect to powered buildings and to other Power Lines.
Place poles on roads where practical. This helps keep the route clear when you plant trees or add buildings later. Forests and buildings can obstruct a line even when the endpoints look close enough.
Check a route across different heights
For an uneven route, begin with a short, unobstructed connection on level ground. Then inspect the next segment’s preview before committing to a longer chain.
If a segment does not connect, compare the height of its endpoints as well as its horizontal distance. Terraforming can create intermediate ground for a stepped route, but a precise full-release height limit is not specified here. Do not plan around an assumed one-level or two-level maximum.
Crossing Kewa’s river
A span-increasing Perk can extend line reach. Even with that Perk, the central river may still require terraforming to make a viable route.
Check the following before changing the terrain:
- Both ends are part of the intended power network.
- No forest or building blocks the segment.
- Your current span Perk is active.
- The endpoint heights and placement preview allow the connection.
There is no single pole spacing or river-bank layout here that guarantees a crossing. Treat the preview and power reaching the final consumer as your success checks.
